Week #1 Task 5 - Technology Integration Matrix reflection

Dear Digitoolers,

I found the The Technology Integration Matrix very interesting. I especially appreciated the videos.

On the matix, I could see how I would fit on the first three levels the Entry Level, Adoption, and Adaptation. Ideally, I would like to be on the Transformation level in all categories (wouldn't we all!)  In the meantime, realistically I would like to move towards Adaptation in all areas.

In the Active category, technology in my classroom could be considered on the level of Adaptation. For example, each morning in my classroom the students can do "listen to reading" by accessing two websites that I have chosen: tumblebooks.com or storylineonline.net .  My students choose which of the online reading websites they want to use, and they access them independently.

However, in the Collaborative catagory, I feel I am at an Entry level considering that
my students primarily work alone when using technology. My students collaborate all the time without using technology tools.  I usually direct students to work alone on tasks involving technology.

This matrix is extremely helpful for thinking about how technology could and should look like in the classroom.  I have bookmarked this page and will refer to it when planning.

Have you used the Matrix?  If so, how?

Warmly,
Kate
